Another classic Ed Woltil-designed sleeve adorned with recently unearthed artwork drawn by one of Robinson's familial ancestors during the Elizabethan era. Either that, or he found it in a public domain library. Either way, it's luvverly. You should probably treat yourself to one.

On "Cycle", my duo album with Ed Woltil, we were lucky enough to have XTC guitargonaut, Dave Gregory on board for a couple of songs. On one of them (Elastic Man), Dave sent us a lovely slide guitar track, the touch and tone of which immediately made me think of George Harrison. So, when I was working on Quiet One, a fairly obvious nod to the quiet Beatle himself, I couldn't help but ask Dave if he might be interested in lending his formidable talents to it. Thankfully he was on board, and I have no qualms about admitting that when I first heard his part, I had tears in my eyes. There...I said it.
lyrics
Quiet One
Whispered wisdom crystal clear
Be the one to find me
Look at me
Stumbling blindly in the dark
Be the one who guides me home
Gentle one
Purest tone and lightest touch
And the softest landing
Fill me up
(Even when it's all too much)
With your understanding
Up on the mountain
Or into the fire
Out of the mire
Or through the mill
Take me where you will
What you are, I can be
What I am, you can be too
Free from a cold immaterial world
I was blind but now I can see
Through an open door
Now and ever more
We are our own key
Enlightened one
Be the flame that lights my way
On the path of seeing
Wake me up
Help me find the bliss within me
And the joy of being
Skirting a black hole
Crashing the sun
Under the gun
Or on a breeze
Take me where you please
Quiet one
Quiet one
Quiet one

Hypnotic and heartfelt; I find myself frozen and staring off when I listen to it. I'm usually thinking, "This is how it's done". Effortless-sounding in a Weepies/Innocence Mission sort of way. Steve Robinson
XTC had their moment in time...this recording extends it...Full of small, tight , quirky songs it juz rolls along. Recommended but maybe only for XTC fans.. cwhitney
Such a joyful collection of songs. Nothing like quintessential Melbourne alternative rock to lift the spirits. Listening during yet another lockdown transports me to a band room in my favourite pub. Thanks for the music lads- looking forward to seeing you for real when we get outta here. Jacqui L
